Revitalizing the Heart of Our Community

Established 2023

A Bold Vision for the Future of Downtown Delta

In an exciting development for the heart of our community, the Downtown Delta Partnership, Inc. (DDP), a newly established nonprofit, is spearheading a transformative initiative to rejuvenate the historic downtown district of Delta. This ambitious group, comprising local business leaders, is dedicated to enhancing the area’s ambiance, aesthetic appeal, and business diversity.

With over 45,000 square feet of unused space across the second floors of historic buildings, DDP is set to redefine the future of downtown Delta. The organization aims to reflect the community’s desires for this cherished area, focusing on revitalization and improvement.

Who We Are: Pioneers of Change

Downtown Delta Partnership, Inc. is not just an organization; it’s a movement. A collective force driven by passion and purpose, we’re dedicated to transforming the downtown Delta into a vibrant, soulful heart of our community.

Our Mission: Be the Voice for Downtown Delta

We’re here to champion the unique character and spirit of downtown Delta, merging cultural richness and historical integrity with innovative development. Our focus? To create an inclusive and prosperous downtown, where the past and future coalesce.

Our Why:

Downtown Delta is the face of our community – a symbol of pride and potential. Yet, it requires nurturing, attention, and love. If not us, then who? We stand at the forefront, ensuring our downtown flourishes as a testament to our collective commitment.

Our Legacy Projects

  • “The Lofts” – Historic Downtown Delta Redesign: Imagine revitalized, vibrant spaces where history meets modern living. Our vision is to transform the vacant second-floor buildings along Main Street into dynamic, living spaces, preserving their historical essence.
  • Dedicated Parking Solutions: We’re tackling one of the biggest urban challenges – parking. Our plan includes dedicated off-street tenant parking and public parking for the 400 block of Main, enhancing accessibility and convenience.

Our Promise

We will be the catalysts for a renaissance in the commercial district. Our Main Street Program is not just a plan; it’s a revolution in perception and practice. We believe that the state of our historic buildings is the best marketing tool we have. It’s time to revitalize or face obsolescence.

Leadership and Vision

The DDP’s Board of Directors brings together ten influential figures from the local business community, including:

  • Rinnah Howard, Chair
  • Orval Proctor, Vice-Chair
  • Brad Davis, Secretary
  • Portia Vigil, Treasurer
  • Alongside notable members: Hartland Clubb (Clubb Fabric Store), Laura Tarr (Tara’s), Bruce Parker (Sisson’s Feed), Haley Jackson (Egyptian Theater), and Ron Hays (Delta Elks).

Community Support and Strategy

Hartland Clubb, an early advocate for DDP, anticipates broad community backing for this initiative. Veteran business owners Davis, Tarr, and Proctor share the vision of revitalizing and repurposing the historic business district into a vibrant hub for both locals and visitors.

DDP Chair, Rinnah Howard, emphasizes the goal of enhancing downtown’s unique charm to reinvigorate business and consumer interest. The organization is exploring successful revitalization strategies from across the nation, focusing on organization, promotion, design, and economic restructuring.

Future Plans

DDP is already collaborating with local consultants Chris Miller, Wilma Erven, and Judy Weiszbrod to address key areas such as improving business diversity, preserving historic architecture, enhancing pedestrian access, and supporting business growth.

The Board has engaged with various local entities, including the Delta City Council and the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce, and plans to connect with Main Street businesses to discuss the revitalization efforts further.
